Getting started
- Create a dedicated alt avatar for your bot, with its own password. Never give us your main avatar or a password you use anywhere else.
- Go to Sign up, accept the terms and you receive a short code. Send that code as an instant message to our bot in Second Life. Your account is created — no email needed.
- Add funds to your balance (see Payments). The easiest way is the Terminal.
- On the dashboard choose Add bot: enter the alt’s login, pick a plan, a home region and a start position.
- Your first bot starts with a free 7-day trial (one per customer), including L$100 in AI credit.
Plans & renewals
| Plan | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | L$149 / week | 1 bot online 24/7, patrol routes, sit spots, auto touch, outfits and HUD, automatic IM & local-chat replies, 50 AI credits every paid week, group auto-invite for up to 3 groups. |
| Premium | L$399 / week | Everything in Basic plus 150 AI credits every paid week, scripted IM & local messaging, unlimited group auto-invite, group notices (1 per 30 min per group) and priority support. |
- Renewing: 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks. 4 weeks gives 1 extra week free (5 weeks for the price of 4). New weeks are added on top of the time you have left, so renewing early never wastes anything.
- Auto-renew (optional, per bot): when time runs out, one week is bought from your balance automatically if you can afford it.
- Switching plans: remaining time is converted at the two weekly prices (no cash moves, no refund). During the free trial a switch is free and instant. Moving to Basic turns off Premium-only features.
- Reminders: VelvetSupport sends you an IM in Second Life 3 days, 2 days and 1 day before a bot’s paid time or free trial ends. If auto-renew is on and your balance covers the next week, you won’t get these, because the bot renews by itself. If your balance is short, the reminder tells you.
- Balance too low: the bot stops as soon as its paid time ends (there is no grace period), its unused AI credits end, and VelvetSupport sends you an IM. Its settings are kept for 30 days, so you can top up and renew, and it starts again.
- After 30 days: a bot that still hasn’t been renewed is permanently deleted, including its settings, conversations and saved login. VelvetSupport sends you an IM when this happens. Your balance and any add-on licenses are kept, and you can add a bot again anytime.
Payments
Your balance is prepaid, in Linden dollars. Plan fees, renewals, add-ons and AI turns are all taken from it. Each payment must be between L$50 and L$10,000. Your balance normally updates within seconds.
Option A — the Terminal (recommended)
Touch the Terminal → Add Fund → right-click the object → Pay, then choose 50 / 500 / 1000 / 10000 or a custom amount. See the Terminal guide.
Option B — pay VelvetSupport
Pay the avatar VelvetSupport directly (right-click → Pay on its profile, or the Open Second Life button in the dashboard’s Add funds card). You do not need to be near it.
Payments from an avatar with no account, or outside L$50–L$10,000, are refunded automatically. Prepaid balance and fees already charged are non-refundable except where required by law or where we decide otherwise (for example a fault on our side). If you think you were charged wrongly, IM Wiz Windsor or 0palmoon.
VelvetBots Terminal
The Terminal is a free in-world object that gives you your account inside Second Life: check your balance, add funds and renew bots without leaving the game. Rez it on any parcel where you may rez objects. It is owner-only: anyone else who touches it is told it is not theirs. It can be copied and given away — when it changes owner it resets and registers the new owner.
First run
Every rez, script reset or change of owner, the Terminal asks for permission to take L$ from your account (debit). This is required so it can pay VelvetSupport for Add Fund, and it only ever pays the amount you choose. Click Grant. It then registers you with velvetbots.com and tells you in chat who you are, your balance and your active bots. If you click Deny the Terminal will not work; touch it again to be re-asked.
No account yet?
If the avatar that owns the Terminal has no VelvetBots account, the Terminal tells you in chat and, when you touch it, opens a small dialog with two buttons: Sign-Up and Close. The dialog explains the steps:
- Press Sign-Up — your browser opens velvetbots.com/signup.
- Accept the terms to get a short code.
- Send that code as an instant message to our bot in Second Life.
- Touch the Terminal again — it registers you and the normal menu appears. There is no need to rez a new one.
The touch menu
Touching shows your Account Balance and Active Bots, fetched fresh each time, with three buttons:
Add Fund
- The Terminal checks VelvetSupport is online (it must be, to credit you). If not, you are told, nothing is charged and you can retry later.
- The Terminal becomes a Pay object for 60 seconds. Right-click → Pay and pick L$50 / 500 / 1000 / 10000 or a custom amount (L$50–L$10,000).
- Chat reports every step: sent, confirmed by Second Life, and finally “balance is now L$…”.
Only you can fund your Terminal; a payment from anyone else is refused and refunded. If your balance has not appeared after about 30 seconds, touch the Terminal to refresh and check your billing history on the dashboard.
Renew
- Your bots are listed numbered with plan and time left (e.g.
1. Mya Premium 3 days left). Press the number of the bot to renew. With many bots there are 10 per page — use Previous / Next. - Choose 1, 2, 3 or 4 weeks. The dialog shows each price and reminds you that 4 weeks includes 1 free week.
- The L$ are taken from your balance and the bot’s time is extended. Chat confirms the amount, your new balance and time left. A bot that had stopped for non-payment starts again.
If your balance is too low nothing is deducted — use Add Fund first.
Close & timeout
Close ends the menu. A menu left open for 60 seconds times out on its own; touch the Terminal to open it again. Everything the Terminal does is also announced privately to you in local chat, so you always have a record.
VelvetBots HUD
The HUD is a wearable control for your bot. Request it from the dashboard (it is delivered in-world), attach it from your inventory (right-click → Attach To → a HUD position) and touch it to open the menu. Every touch re-checks your account, so it only controls bots you own. Floating text on the HUD shows your bot’s name and status (green = online, red = offline) and, while online, its location as Region/x/y/z.
Main menu
- Walk
- Submenu: Walk to me, Run to me, Walk to home, Run to home. The bot walks to your position and can cross into an adjacent region. If the destination is too far or not adjacent, use Teleport.
- Teleport
- TP to me or TP to home. Instant, at any height or distance, including across regions — the right choice for skyboxes and private platforms.
- Outfit
- Lists the bot’s configured outfits (up to 11); tap one to change. Outfits are set up from the dashboard.
- Touch
- Enter an object’s UUID in the text box and the bot touches it. If the object answers with a menu (vendors, games, furniture), that menu is relayed to you in the HUD so you can click through it, page after page. Tap [Stop] to leave a relayed menu. Most objects show no menu — that is normal.
- Sit
- Scan lists nearby furniture in a numbered picker, or By UUID sits on a specific object.
- Stand
- Stands the bot up.
- Fly On/Off
- Toggles flight. The label is the HUD’s best guess of the current state and can drift if the bot lands by itself — just tap again.
- Rotate
- Turn to me faces the bot toward you; the degree buttons (+15, +30, +45, +90, +180 and the negatives) turn it in place.
- Follow On/Off
- The bot follows you continuously, walking after you and crossing regions; it only teleports if you move somewhere it cannot walk to. Tap again to stop.
- Login / Logoff
- Starts or stops the bot. The label changes with its current status.
- Switch
- If you have several bots, pick which one the HUD controls (paged). With only one bot it simply tells you so.
- Close
- Closes the menu.

AI Brains
Optionally turn your bot into a true companion: a girlfriend, boyfriend, wife, husband, son, daughter, sister, brother, friend or anyone else you imagine, powered by professional-grade AI that chats in IMs and local chat.
- Build your own character in the Persona builder, or start from one of 25 ready-made templates (partners, family members, friends, mentor, host, guide, shopkeeper, butler, fortune teller, pets and more). Save as many as you like and attach the same AI Brain to any of your bots.
- Choose the reply order per channel.
- Long-context memory: your companion remembers the people it talks to, so returning visitors are recognised and conversations feel continuous.
- Weekly AI credits: every paid week includes AI credits for that bot — 50 on Basic, 150 on Premium. A Standard AI reply uses 1 credit, a Mature AI reply 2. Credits are given one week at a time and unused credits expire at the end of the week. They pay for AI replies only (not plans, renewals or add-ons) and come with paid weeks only: a 4-week renewal includes 4 weeks of credits, and the free trial uses the L$100 trial credit instead. If a bot stops for non-payment its credits end. Each bot card on the dashboard shows what is left this week.
- Why credits don’t roll over: they are a weekly allowance included with your plan, like a weekly quota, not a balance you build up — making them weekly is what lets us include them while keeping plan prices low. Every paid week starts fresh with the full amount. In a busy week, AI replies carry on from your balance so your bot never goes quiet, and Premium triples the allowance. Your balance itself never expires.
- Paying for several weeks at once: each paid week still gets its own fresh set of credits, given one week at a time — 4 paid weeks means 4 weeks of credits (200 on Basic or 600 on Premium across the period), so your bot has a full allowance every week instead of risking using it all up in the first few days. The free 5th week of a 4-week renewal is a bonus week of hosting with all plan features, but no AI credits; AI replies carry on from your balance that week.
- After the week’s credits: L$1 per AI turn (one AI reply) for Standard AI, taken from your balance.
- Switch on Mature Mode (18+) in the Persona builder for romantic, adult-oriented chat: 2 credits or L$2 per AI turn.
- New customer AI credit: your first bot includes L$100 in AI credit — about 100 Standard replies or 50 Mature Mode replies, in any mix — so you can try the AI Brain before topping up. It is used before your balance, applies to AI replies only (not plans or add-ons) and ends with the 7-day free trial. One per customer; your dashboard shows what is left.
- Standard AI declines mature chat. If a visitor sends a mature message to a standard AI Brain, the bot replies with a warm, friendly decline (that turn is still L$1). Turn on Auto-switch to Mature AI when needed in the Persona builder to avoid the interruption: only the turns Standard AI declines are answered by the Mature AI and billed at the Mature price (L$2). It is off by default, and you are never charged the Mature price unless you turn it on.
- When your AI credits are used up and your balance reaches zero, the AI pauses; the bot stays online and keeps using its normal canned or scripted replies.
Add-on modules
Bought once per license (L$999 each, except Group Tag Manager at L$99) from your balance, then attached to one bot at a time. You can detach an add-on and move it to another bot later. Buy the same add-on several times to use it on several bots at once.
- Live Local Chat — watch and type into local chat live
- Live IM Chat — watch, reply and start IMs live
- Live Group Chat — watch and type into a group chat live
- Money Control — see your bot’s L$ balance, send L$ to any resident by name (with an optional note) and review every payment in and out. Transfers need your dashboard password; history is kept from the moment the add-on is attached.
- Group Notice Automation — write a notice once (subject, message and an inventory attachment), then schedule it on a monthly calendar in SL time: pick dates or weekdays, several times a day. Every send is logged and the 30-minute group limit is checked for you.
- Group Tag Manager (L$99) — choose which group tag your bot wears, or none. It is re-applied every time the bot logs in.
- Advanced Scripted Chat — up to 500 instant-reply rules with exact, contains or regex matching, switched on separately for IM, local chat and each group chat. Group replies are rate-limited so your bot never spams.
- Advanced Touch — give your bot’s worn HUDs and attachments short names per outfit, then open their menus from the VelvetBots HUD’s Touch button. Your bot must be online to set it up.
Developer API
Free on every plan: connect your bots to your own scripts, rental boxes, vendors or server. Create a key on the Developer page, then send IMs, invite residents to your groups, read what your bots hear and more. Everything is in the Developer API docs, and the free LSL Starter Pack has ready-made scripts.
Free in-world items
Request these from your dashboard; they are delivered to you in-world.
- VelvetBots HUD — the wearable control described above.
- Greeter + Inviter — greets visitors to your parcel and invites them to your group.
- Touch Inviter — touch it to be invited to your group.
